As of May 24, 2022, the USPTO will issue electronic registration certificates instead of the traditional paper ones. This beneficial change means trademark owners can view, download, and print their electronic certificates at any time, for no charge. Trademark owners and all email addresses of record will receive an electronic link to the official registration certificate on the Trademark Status and Document Retrieval (TSDR) system upon issue of a mark by the USPTO.
Registrants will still be able to order a “presentation copy” of their certificate. The USPTO one-page presentation copy will be printed on heavy paper, feature a gold seal, and indicate the trademark and Classes of goods and services covered. A presentation copy is $25.00. As before, these copies are suitable for framing but are not certified for use in legal proceedings or filings abroad.
Trademark owners needing a certified copy of their trademark registration can still obtain one for $15. The certified copy is printed and includes a certifying officer’s signature in confirmation of the trademark’s status and title.
